And as Lee Majors vehicles go, what about the 6 Million Dollar Man?

Maybe the guys who put the 6 Million Dollar Man together have the "technology" to "rebuild" your credibility...which is totally shot after this feeble list.

Dabysan

FEEBLE? How is this list feeble? It clearly contains all the greats. Even if you feel the need to have Fall Guy squeeze out the Jeffersons or some such, you can't argue the divine majesty of the list.

hotrod

[this is good]

M-----l

Talk to me when the Jeffersons get a jetpack.

Dabysan

The Jefferson's might have the best actual song on the list. They would rocket to #1 if Sherman Helmsley flew in on a jet pack.

hotrod

You forgot the guy jumping off the top of the train onto the signal and swinging around.

hotrod

Okay, I'll be honest - I've never seen a single episode of The Fall Guy.  But the single-sentence description on Wikipedia is fan-fucking-tastic:

Lee Majors plays Colt Seavers, a Hollywood stunt man who moonlights as a bounty hunter.

I sure as shit want to watch The Fall Guy now.

Jodi

I would argue Mad Men should be somewhere on the list (and, as much as I loved Family Ties the opening with the painting was kinda lame).

Also what about the great Cosby openings?

And Happy Days the record in the jukebox?

AND Fucking Laverne & Shirley. . .

wow this might be one of the wrongest lists in the history of lists.

hotrod

Also what about the great Cosby openings?

Ah, there's that great (and lame) Jodi opinion.  Thanks.  I knew you wouldn't disappoint.

Mad Men is pretty great though.  I'll give you that.

Curlysalamander

No votes for Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

Dabysan

Of all of these, Laverne and Shirley has the best crack at making the top 10. I could see slotting them in above Crime Story, maybe. While Mad Men may be a good show, the opening leaves me cold. I don't go in for these modernist opening themes of today.

Also, Cosby can suck it.

Dabysan

A little heavy metal for you, isn't it?

Aubrey

Our company distributed The Greatest American Hero DVD box set (including red cape) which played the theme song, so hearing it again would make my hair burst into flames.

Crime Story was great, great, great.

And sorry, I'll have to back up Jodi, re:  Mad Men.

Jodi

Of course not, apparently you only go for openings that reinforce violence. Of course something as subtle and stylish as Mad Men wouldn't appeal to a knuckledragger.

Dabysan

Dennis Farina is -- no exaggeration -- one of my favorite actors. Period. I coulda done with about 10 more seasons of that show.

hotrod

Actually, I'm a little surprised Jodi isn't stumping for Friends.

Dabysan

Are you arguing that a guy falling out of a building is less violent than Tom Hanks walking through a sprinkler?

Jodi

FFFFFFFFFuuuuuuuuuucccccccccccckkkkkkkKKKKKK You.

Dabysan

Oh right, being sung by her favorite band and all. I like when Ross starts singing "I Will Dare."

hotrod

WHAT??!?!!  Why the hostility?!?!  We both know that a theme song by the Replacements trumps everything on this list.  Don't be afraid to lobby for your favorite band.  I'll back you up.  I'll be there for you.

Jodi

Your willful ignorance is shameful. SHAMEFUL.

Curlysalamander

I'm not sure I actually like it, but I will say it's inscribed on what's left of my brain.  Mr. Salamander has downloaded all 7 seasons and we are just one season short of completion.  And after all that, I have no idea what it is that grabs him about the series.

FS

I'd call the intro to "It's Garry Shandling's Show" great in its own way.

hotrod

Now that I'm home from work and can actually watch the videos, I have a few more thoughts....

First of all, that CHiPs intro is terrible.  Great show, but terrible opening.  I do appreciate that the name of the show is in quotes, though.

I never realized before that the version of "Runaway" in the Crime Story opening is a cover.  Or that some of the lyrics have been changed.  I wonder if the lyrics are slightly different in the Bosom Buddies intro too.

Dabysan

From what I understand they got Del Shannon to sing the TV version of his own song.

And that "CHiPs" opening is pure gold.
