Anvil: The Story of Anvil?
That has to be the worst movie name ever.
Dabysan

Are you kidding? One of the best things about that awesome movie is it's amazing name.

Also, I think I need to bump something here for "Slumdog Millionaire." Maybe Spartacus...

hotrod

Movies aren't as fun as songs.  A lot of these will be on my list too, whenever i get around to it.

Dabysan

I knew I was stealing a little bit of your thunder with Ong-Bak: Thai Warrior.

hotrod

I picked up Spartacus when the Vault closed.  I still haven't watched it yet.  I'm a little afraid, because for all his brilliance, Kubrick can be maddeningly boring.

Dabysan

Spartacus is really good...not short though.

I looked up Anvil: The Story of Anvil.  I took one look at the cover art and understood everything.

And I would like to officially go on record and announce that I believe The Princess Bride is one of the most overrated movies ever.  I've never met anyone who didn't love it, but I have no idea why they do.

Dabysan

In defense of Anvil: The Story of Anvil, in addition to being face-smashingly awesome, it's also pretty heart-rending in spots, and was one of the best reviewed movies of 2009. Kinda like Spinal Tap, but for real.

As for Princess Bride, outside of the script and the acting and the directing, I can see how there's not too much special about it.

hotrod

I'm with M-Dashes.  Sure, The Princess Bride is funny, but it's not that funny.

Dabysan

Well it's not really intended to be a full time laugh riot. It's an adventure/romance with a funny edge. I think it is very well done...and it passes my foolproof stop-and-watch-if-I-scan-past-it-on-TV test.

hotrod

I think it's going on the spite list.

hotrod

No Glengarry Glen Ross?

Dabysan

Yeah, I might need to do some pruning, though I'm not entirely sure that GGR makes the cut. It's a great film no doubt, but the only part of it that I find myself really wanting to watch again and again is the Alex Baldwin speech...usually on YouTube.

hotrod

This is just more proof that you are clearly insane.

Wow! Ong-Bak: Thai Warrior made it to the US? And is one of your favorite movies? I'm impressed!

On-Bak 3 was released in BKK earlier this month. Not sure how it holds up to the original.

Dabysan

Tony Jaa is like a personal hero of mine. I am a big nerd for martial arts movies, but I hate all the wire work that has overtaken the genre in recent years (think The Matrix). Tony Jaa ripping people up natural style is a joy to behold. I saw Ong Bak II - not bad, and will be looking forward to the US video release of Ong Bak III.

Bloodsport?

Also, M-dashes, now you have met two people who don't like The Princess Bride.

Dabysan

You know you love Bloodsport.

Figures.  You're a fun-sponge.

[this is good]

Tampopo!  That's one of my very favorites.
